Description

The Strain Gauge Sensor Device is an electronic device to connect strain gauge (Wheat Stone Bridge) based sensors to the CANbus.

Examples for Strain Gauge sensors are:

• Deformation sensors
• Torque sensors

• Strain gauges
• weight scales

The strain gauge sensor device supports configurations like half-bridge, full bridge, bridges with temperature compensated setup etc. When not using a full bridge the other resistors need to be connected near the strain gauges. A ready to run example configuration for weight measurement is provided with the device. With this setting weight functions like Null, Tara, max weight etc are already implemented.
The Strain Gauge Sensor Device will converts the sensor signals to CANbus messages. The device can be configured via the iConfigure software. With the basic configuration capacity you can configure signal processes inside the device to perform any control and process task you can imagine. Event driven situations can be handled up to a 100ths of a second, and with the non volatile storage, data values can be stored. Sensors are connected via the Squarell sensor cables. Sensor supply is integrated in the cable and with iConfigure the voltage is set during configuration. Sensors can be purchased from any supplier, if required we can advise you in selecting the right sensor type.

Smart sensor technology

The sensor cables can be equipped with a 1-wire chip where configuration data and physical specs of the sensor are stored. The Strain Gauge Sensor Device reads this information and adapts the signal conversion automatically. This makes an "connect and go" installation possible. Squarell can program your sensor characteristics in the sensor cables on request.
