Description
FMS Tachograph interfaces are the next step in advanced vehicle data interfaces from Squarell. European Transport customers need actual, accurate and free use of the data stored in the digital tachographs to optimize their operations. And that is not possible with normal FMS interfaces!
Why? Because not all data is made available and some data cannot be gathered when the ignition is off. Squarell solves this problem in the highly integrated, robust and proven solution. As this solution incorporates all good things of a Squarell Telematics interface, Squarell FMS interface and a tachograph interface, the power of CANbus and vehicle data is solved in one box. The FMS tachograph supports all European Trucks, all digital tachographs.

Working time directive
The EU rules for the working time directive requires extreme discipline of the drivers.
For a optimized planning the real available driving/working time is mandatory. By exactly knowing when the actual working status changes have happened in the vehicle the office software can reproduce the time left to drive, and when the next mandatory stop is due. Even when the ignition is off the changes from work/rest/break en vice versa can be tracked at the exact time stamp and captured in the Squarell FMS tachograph interface.
DriverID
Who was driving the truck? If the driver Card is in the digital tachograph is seems logical that the DriverID should be on the CANbus. The reality is NOT, the FMS interfaces from truck manufactures DO NOT have DriverID. Why is it not on the FMS interface? Nobody can tell, but the solution is now simple and easy. Squarell supports it, so you’ll have it.
Tachograph Download
Do we support the download functions: No currently not. But we can give you our views:
Driver card download: this can be done at the transport companies office, easy fast, low cost.
3 month download: Well the interface specification (CANbus) is available, but you need to keep ignition on, buy some download device, put a Company card at the office and start some program to download the data over the air. It is not smart and we did not implement it. We think that the current fast download in the truck it self is the most cost effective, though we hope that the memory of the tachograph will be extended for a yearly or a life time recording can be implemented.
FMS & Telematics
The FMS interface is integrated in the solution. This means you can connect this device to a vehicle CANbus. Squarell uses a special CANdiode technology to protect the vehicle CANbus against disturbances and interference. By reading and interpreting the data, the FMS data is made available in FMS CANbus signals or in RS232 data stream. All is configurable to fit the users requirements.
Vehicle, Driver and Trip Performance data
The integrated Telematics interface, calculates valuable information from the vehicle data. With this data you can analyze and report the planning, safety, maintenance, performance and cost issues.

Yes, with the data from the digital tachograph we can send you the VIN (vehicle identification numbers) and the license plate information, a small enhancement and maybe an handy feature. (Who ever worked with VIN to identify a vehicle in every days life?)
