What is a FMS interface?
A FMS interface is an electronics device to read the data from a vehicle data network and translate the data into standard FMS (J1939) data. FMS interfaces have functions to:
- Act as a firewall, so the vehicle data network cannot be interfered
- Translate the proprietary vehicle signals into FMS standard
- Filter data, not all data is made available
About FMS standard
The FMS standard is set of data defied by the Truck manufacturers. The list of 20 items is not sufficient to support full fleet management functions, and not all vehicles support the same set of data.
Squarell FMS interfaces
In the Squarell FMS interfaces more data is made available for the advanced fleet management solutions. If data is not available Squarell routines calculate the missing values. The Squarell FMS interface incorporates Squarell CANdiode technology This CANdiode technology protects the vehicle CANbus against any interference. Output in FMS CANbus or RS232?
Squarell made interfaces with a FMS J1939 output or a RS232 output. The output for this solution is FMS J1939 CAN High CAN Low.
The FMS interfaces with RS232 output are identified as FMS interface with RS232.
Do you need a FMS interface?
To read the data from a vehicle you’ll need a FMS interface of some kind. You cannot read data from a vehicle data network without a protective interface function. Many trucks are ordered from factory without a FMS interface. It is not easy to check if a FMS interface is installed, software enabled and tested. With Squarell FMS interface you do not have to visit the truck dealer as the FMS interface is ready to go.

The Squarell FMS interface is protected with a lifetime product liability insurance. If there are serious problems with your vehicle due the usage of the Squarell product you can rely on us. Voiding your truck warranty because of using third party products is against the European rules of the block exemption thus not supported by law.
